Apply for a Fellowship

The Huntington Research Division administers one of the largest and most prestigious fellowship programs for the support of scholarship in the humanities in the United States. Every year approximately 150 fellowships are awarded to scholars from all over the world to conduct advanced humanities research using The Huntington’s collections.

The Fellowship Application period for the 2026-2027 fellowship year for Long-Term Fellowships, Short-Term Fellowships, Travel Grants/Exchange Fellowships, and Variable-Term Fellowships is now closed. Applicants, both successful and unsuccessful, will be notified in March 2026. 

The 2027-2028 fellowship application cycle will begin on September 1, 2026 and run until 11:59 PM PST on November 15, 2026.
